Ok, I am going to buy a new bow. I want a small and short one (30-33"s) and at least 300 f.p.s
I've been considering the Fred Bear Element/Instinct. They seem to be good bows from what Ive read and the price is right, they are both around $300 brand new on ebay. Can't afford a Mathews yet, so any suggestions the meet those requirments? Thanks!

Busco, what happened? Did it take so long to get a new string you figured it would be easier to buy a new bow!

Busco, what happened? Did it take so long to get a new string you figured it would be easier to buy a new bow! Been almost ten years and just was not happy with the way it was shooting at 30 and 40 yards no matter what i did could not get it consistent enough to trust it hunting, or I just wanted one havent figured out which one!!! But I like the new one..

busco that consistntce you were trying to get out of that old bo , was it from aluminum arrows . cause i shoot a great bow but still shoot aluminum arrows and anything past 35yds its all over the place . i did buy carbons an going to make the switch around shotgun season or mite hold out till after the season . but them aluminums killed two deer this year dam hard to make the change.

I just got the Fred Bear Element. Its AWESOME! I have the Instinct and love it! Unless your shooting a 30" draw length with super light arrows with nothing on the string and the bow tuned perfectly your no where near 300 fps. For the money these bear bows are awsome arent they! I love mine too. My bow is on the way back from Mike Carter (possibly the worlds best tuner) and he made new strings and super tuned my bow and it is now shooting 275. He said it gained 12 fps after he worked his magic on it. I will post pics when I get it this week. Flo green and black strings with a flo green D loop and flo green string from my QAD ultra rest which is served into the buss cable. ;D

Prostreet, let me know how that crackerization is on your bow. I looked at the website last night and am thinking about sending mine off in the spring.

Prostreet, let me know how that crackerization is on your bow. I looked at the website last night and am thinking about sending mine off in the spring. According to ups it should be here tuesday. I will let you know how it works out. Heck if you want your welcome to shoot it. If you are really thinking about it you need to get on his waiting list. I got on it last december and it wasnt till last week that he was ready for it. Thats how many people are on his list! He makes amazing strings and will make the bow faster and more accurate with his super tuning. His strings dont strech so the bow doesnt go out of tune. He will not tell anybody exactly what he does to the bows he works on. From what I gather he builds the string and installs it and gets the bow perfectly into spec. Then he puts it on a hooter shooter and tunes it till its perfect. The hooter shooter simulates a person with perfect form so when you get the bow back it will be right on the money.

hey prostreet Pm me an idea of what he charged you, i would like to send my PSE bow to him but if its too much money id rather just buy a new bow and have him work on the new one. Wouldnt be too cost feasible to spend too much $ on my old bow i dont think

It is only $90 for the custom built strings and cable and the super tune. $90 for everything. If you want anything extra like a new peep he just charges the cost of that item. So it cost me $100 with the new meta peep plus shipping back to me. Heck winners choice strings are $100 and his strings are as good or better so its well worth it!
BTW the tracking shows it out for delivery so I will have it back today!!!!! If you guys want I can post pics later?

He gained 12fps over my old setup. Its now shooting 275 which for this bow and a 28" DL is screaming. I just shot it a couple times and broke off a knock already at 30 yards! I havent shot a bow this good in a long time and it doesnt appear that it was me that was shooting just average. It was my bow! Its also much quieter now than it was before which is awsome.
