Here's the heart of it, a Chambers Deluxe Large Siler flintlock. This is the best there is, going to be a fast shooter. Look closely at it now, this is going to be filed and sanded to be as bright and shiny as the silver trim. ;D

Been working with the files and sandpaper - those dark sand castings take a LOT of work to get into shape. Probably got 4-5 hours in this triggergaurd, and it will still need the buffing wheel before it goes on the gun, but it's gettin' mighty sparkly. ;D

Okay, go up the page and look at that rough flintlock again, cause it don't look like that any longer. ;D Lots of file and sanding work, and my main comment is 'Bless the Buffing Wheel'! And I got confirmation the barrel and stock wood were shipped today, now I'll have something to keep me busy!

UPS brought me a big box of gun stuff yesterday!! Started messing with it a bit today, got the barrel seated and tight at the breech, also got the breech plug filed even on top and beveled on the sides for inletting. First stock I've gotten from TOTW, pretty good, just close enough to get a feel but still plenty of wood to take off for the finished product. My messy workbench is happy again now.

Worked on the buttplate this morning, got it all cut, fit and attached in these pics... The second pic shows what made this one harder than the last gun - the butt plate has to fit down into wood on the top instead of just covering stock. Didn't take another pic after more work, but also got the stock rasped down to a good curve on top and bottom, and filed the buttplate flush to the wood on all sides. I can't wait to see this one shoot, it comes up really nice and just hangs there on target, pretty much decided I'm going to put target sites on it and use it for club shoots.

That's MISTER Fish to you Fox. Here's the buttplate all filed down to shape and the stock worked to match. ...and the stock with the shape all reworked how I want it. Put a good downward curve on the comb, along with the flats to match the upper butt plate, and shaped a more pronounced curve into the bottom of the stock. These Lehigh's are a lot different than the last gun I built, but the shape and feel are pretty neat.

Thanks Deerman! No scope Dave, I think I'll just pull the breech and site down the rifling in the barrel, hope the flash isn't too bad. Was working on the entry pipe for the ramrod last night, pulled out the patchbox and layed it out - but man it's gonna be scary!

Got all the ramrod pipes inlet and pinned. The more of the silver I put on this thing I can't wait to add the final color to the stock to see how it's going to look, but that's a long way off yet...

Whaddaya mean can't shoot in the rain?!?! Killed my first deer last year with the first one I built - raining, humid and in the marsh to boot! Yeah, I like building 'em. Actually thinking of making a side business out of it, I like it that much. Heck, I may even sell this one and roll the money back into more wood and parts for the next two or three!

I'll let you know Papa, not sure yet on this one if I'm gonna want the gun or money to build some more. Got a bunch done last night. Got the underlugs on the barrel and inlet into the stock, now just gotta drill for the bbl pins to lock it together. Also layed out the patchbox and got the first part secured so I can start inlaying it. Here's the first part of it, I was playing with stain colors where I knew wood has to come off yet... ...and the current height of it, when it's done it'll be flush with surrounding wood.
