I bought one of these stands the end of last year and have used it a couple of times this year. I love it and will be giving my Summit Viper to my son. You can safely adjust the platform and climber once up in the tree. The adjustability also allows me to climb higher than ever before. You can check them out at www.equalizertreestands.com

I've seen the commercials for them. I must say its a great idea, if its sturdy. My API is about six years old and i'm going to buy a new climber next year. Are they expensive? And more importantly are they heavy?

The stand weighs 20lbs. It is the most sturdiest stand I have ever used. Once you at your desired height, tighten up the side straps that connect the platform to the climber, the stand does not budge. I like mine so much I am giving my Summit Viper to my son.

I've been using this stand for the past two years and love it. I have tire the Summits, API and Tree Lounge. The Summit and API were good but the Equalizer gives you the ability to climb higher so that you can go undetected by sight and smell. Also found it easier to climb with. It really grips the tree.
Stay away from the Tree Lounge, althoug it was the most comfortable stand I have ever sat/sleept in it is also one of the least safest.

I saw your comments on the equalizer stand and checked it out. It looked so good I ordered one only to find out their out of stock until late January. I guess I won't get to use it till next season. I had one of those tree lounge stands and hated it, too heavy and too much trouble to climb back down out of the tree, so I sold it.

I think I will be placing an order for one these. It looks like a great stand. I will probably wait until you get yours, Rommel. Maybe, I'll borrow it.

what kind of knee room does it have with that front bar

it has plenty of knee room, I am slightly overweight and still have plenty of room. I only shoot from the standing position so I cannot comment on how the stand is if someone was to shoot from the sitting position.

I did buy one and have been using it this year. I love it. it has a good amount of room and is very easy to use. I agree with jwittman, it does allow you to climb higher and feel safer doing it. I have not tried it with a gun yet, just bow. We'll see this weekend about the gun hunt.

...just get a Lone Wolf like a real bowhunter! After 25+ years of near death experiences (And PAINFUL nipple removal) slowly sliding back down trees with a death grip, with my homemade, Baker style, climbers, I broke down and bought a NIB LoneWolf a couple years ago, off ebay. Was $200 shipped! Really changed my way of hunting, BUT: I saw and tried the equalizer at the 4H/Mirant/NWTF youth day doins in Newburg in October, and I really liked it! I mean I REALLY liked it! ;D

I got to look into a new climber. For the life of me I can't remember what I have now, but I hate it. I only use once in a while. Its kinda small for me, a b*tch to climb with, the foot straps don't keep your secured while you climb and I pretty much got a pucker factor going on the entire hunt. I paid 250.00 for it brand new from cableas years ago. I sweat profusely when I climb up and down with it, Its a combination of fear and difficulty of climbing that makes me sweat.

I use another adjustable sit and stand climber by Amacker. Light, solid to the tree, big platform and adjustable front bar for more room. I am old, not too limber, so love the step in feature, I am also way too wide and have plenty of room. They have made some changes to their adjuster model since I bought mine so it packs flatter and gives you the optio of cables or bars. www.amacker.com

Only made 2 trips into blackwater with my viper xl . After the walk in and out that stand is history too heavy and every time I tripped it beat me in the back of my old gray head.I now have a lone wolf.At my age lite and tight is a GOOD thing. The sit and climb is very nice.Very light 18 lbs.I do like the idea of being adjustable after your up the tree.
