So the truth finally comes out! I have had some..... not very reliable and trustworthy sources say that they have seen them but now we have the proof I am looking for! I will choose to shoot one of these over a deer anyday!

So the truth finally comes out! I have had some..... not very reliable and trustworthy sources say that they have seen them but now we have the proof I am looking for! I will choose to shoot one of these over a deer anyday! They have been documented in EVERY county in MD for some years now. Seen pics of a couple taken near Nanjemoy, and heard of a few not far from Leonardtown last winter from a very reliable source.

Saw multiple trail cam pics of one from St Marys two years ago. The guy who had the pics presented them to DNR who came out and investigated the area and according to their findings it was in fact determined to be a coyote. Makes you wonder where they are coming from. His property was 7-8 miles south of Leonardtown.
I have always wanted to put a carcass deep in the woods with a trail cam on it late in the winter just to see what kind of hungry animals are lurking that we don't know are around.

Maybe you'll see BIG FOX (saskewatch) lurking around the corner for that carcass.

all jokes aside though, Jbird, there was an article in last weeks Independent about the coyotes in this area....they found small traces of wolf dna from wolf packs in canada and upper midwest (from long ago). the coyotes in this area I think they said migrated down from new york/pennsylvania..or are related to the ones up there. either way, here's a link to the article: www.somdnews.com/article/20111111/SPORTS/711119482&template=southernMaryland
